As Nebula evolves from being a home for creator-made videos into a full-fledged media company with a film and television studio, it means what we’re building is no longer simply a container; now we’re in the creating business. This adventure has been a lot of fun, and we’re learning a lot, building a Hollywood-compatible, creator-first system.
With so much of our energy and resources going into storytelling, it’s important to ensure that these creative works can have a life beyond streaming. To that end, we’re excited to announce that we’re going to begin releasing Nebula Originals on Blu-ray, starting with Night of the Coconut, The Prince, and IDENTITEAZE. Pre-order pages will go up on the Nebula store next week with more details, but these will be full editions of the Originals with all of the same bonus content they have on Nebula.
Nebula creators are, to us, first and foremost storytellers. Our role is to help them explore their potential, and the earliest results of this system is a collection of work we think deserves to be preserved and discovered. Not everyone has has access to broadband Internet speeds, or the means to pay for a recurring subscription service. We hope that by releasing physical editions of these Nebula Originals they can find new audiences well into the future.
